When you add an opening number, Try to  limit it to just  a couple of minutes,, Be careful not to allow the routine to be too long or drag it out so that the audience doesn’t get bored. Make sure you choose energetic, fun music for the opening number, something that really gets the crowd going and gets the contestants excited about being there. So make sure you choose a cute song, sometimes oldies are a great choice. Encourage the contestants that they should always smile and keep eye contact with the crowd as well as the judges.

it’s important to allow the contestants to incorporate a unique style by wearing accessories.

Try sunglasses. I would recommend popping out the lens so that the girls can see where they are going on stage. The Dollar tree as a large selection of party themed sun glasses. maybe using other props like hats, scarfs, glittery purses, maracas, feather boas. Also Themed clothing can add excitement to the production number. Casual clothing can make a huge impact as well like matching t shirts with the name of the pageant on them! Using props allows the contestants to be creative and to express their own personalities.amandatropicalwearpag1 IMGP2552jas6Finally, as the director, I choose to add personal introductions by the contestants when the opening number is done. This way the audience and the judges get a chance to learn who the delegates are and where they are from.jamiejeff2008To become a contestant in The Miss Camellia City Pageant, prelim to Miss Louisiana USA, visit us at http://www.shellyspageantexpress.com/misscamelliacity.html
